#5: What was the smartest decision you made?

Link: 18 questions for an incredible review of your 2018

In these last weeks of December, I’ll be answering 18 questions for an incredible review of your 2018 that I wrote in my previous post.

I hope this series inspires you to look at your life, career, family and relationship, and to reflect and plan for an awesome 2019. Let’s go.

Question 5: What was the smartest decision you made?

The best decision I made was to change the way I work. I invested in gadgets that make me work more efficiently.

This change was inspired by my partner who’s more organised and tech-savvy than me. I realize that I wasted lots of time because I was using a slow laptop and the wrong tool or organizing system.

After some SERIOUS considerations and rigorous financial planning, I decided to revamp the hardware components that I use every day. I might write a post on the software and the exact ways I stay organized in another post.

My workstation

Some of the things I have:

A 24″ monitor – awesome to view multiple windows at the same time.

A monitor and laptop stand – made with sturdy aluminium, elevates my laptop and monitor off the table. This saves lots of space.

iPad & Apple Pencil – okay obviously this purchase did break my bank but it has been the best investment I’ve ever made. I can practically read, write and make notes anywhere.

Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse – Solid, fast, smooth. I can type frantically on the keyboard and it’s been performing super well.

A standing desk – Instead of sitting for hours on a chair, I switch between standing and sitting.

I painted all my illustrations with the SketchBook app on my iPad.

Of course nothing in this world is free. I did sacrifice good lunches (seriously, I ate bread) and impulsive shopping spree to SAVE THE MONEY I needed for this setup.

Honestly it’s definitely worth it. This workstation has changed my life. I feel I’m more organized and efficient compared to 2017.

Today’s the 5th questions on the series. There’s still plenty of room for improvement on my handwriting and doodles, but hey, I’m enjoying my 2018 review so far. It trains me to learn about colour combination, layers and composition.

How about you? What was the smartest decision you made in 2018?
