In these last weeks of December, I’ll be answering 18 questions for an incredible review of your 2018 that I wrote in my previous post.
I hope this series inspires you to look at your life, career, family and relationship, and to reflect and plan for an awesome 2019. Let’s go.
15. What are the 5 biggest necessary endings that must happen for 2019 to be spectacular?
1. Got my PhD degree
Anybody who has gone through a PhD will understand how everything can bug you day and night. We face technical challenges, but the real challenge is in our mind. I have to keep reminding myself that I’ll make it, and this path is worth the time.
Sometimes a casual remark by a random aunty, “HAR? YOU’RE STILL STUDYING AAAAHHH? HOW OLD ARE YOU?” still bugs me A LOT.
I can’t wait to get this degree, go out to the real world and solve some real problems.
I might be turning 30 soon, but the inner child in me is still 5 years old, probably because I’m not married or paying for a house loan yet. I need to be more financially responsible in 2019.
My mum raised 4 kids, struggled through poverty (yes, poverty), got sick, braved through all the hardships in life and still managed to look like a 40-year-old. That’s who I strive to be.
3. Make it as a writer
I want to make it as a writer in 2019. I write on my blog, for my research papers and other projects, but it isn’t the same as writing for a wider readership or commercial value. I missed an opportunity to work for a MEGA brand this year. I hope I’ll get another mega brand next year, maybe…. Chanel?
I know it’s possible.
4. Build meaningful relationship
“Your network is your net worth.” Intellectually I understand that, but as a lazy introvert, I just want to chill at home on the weekends.
Is that a problem? Yes, kinda. I live in my small bubble without knowing what happens outside my coconut shell.
For 2019 to be spectacular, I want to go out there and meet interesting people.
A few years ago, I used to interview cool people and write about it on my blog. It
pushes me to think and speak more clearly. Maybe I’ll start the series again.
I never exercise. That’s a huge problem because we have many diseases in our family history. Is your family the same too? Like your uncle might had a heart attack or your cousin has cancer?
For years I keep telling myself that I need to work out but nothing happened. Seriously why do I keep procrastinating…… Nobody can take her health for granted.
How about you? What are the 5 biggest necessary endings that must happen for 2019 to be spectacular?
